Mamma Mia! Synopsis
ABBA's hits tell the hilarious story of a young woman's search for her birth father. This sunny and funny tale unfolds on a Greek island paradise. On the eve of her wedding, a daughter's quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother's past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.
The story-telling magic of ABBA's timeless songs propels this enchanting tale of love, laughter and friendship, creating an unforgettable show. A large cast, non-stop laughs and explosive dance numbers combine to make Mamma Mia! a guaranteed smash hit for any theatre. A mother. A daughter. Three possible dads. And a trip down the aisle you'll never forget!

 Audition Format
  • Auditions are open to those in grades 8-12 at the time of auditions.
  • Those auditioning don’t have to reside in Gibson County, they just need to be able to attend all required rehearsals and performances.
  • You only need to attend 1 audition session.  If you attend both audition sessions, you probably won't have the opportunity to re-audition in the interest of time.
  • We has a casting committee, however they will not all be present at the auditions, so each audition will be videotaped and shared for deliberation.
  • Auditions are open to family & friends.  If you are not auditioning, you must sit quietly in the back section and observe.  No small children.
  • Acting:  You will be asked to do cold reads from the script. The characters have a variety of voices and accents, you are encouraged to experiment and have fun at auditions.
  • Dancing:  You will be asked about your dancing experience.  Those interested in assisting with choreography can sign up at the April 14th meeting to do so.
  • Singing
    • You may sing acapella or use StageTracks (instructions on Cast Info page)
      • If you would like to be considered for vocal ensemble only:  You may sing a 30-60 second piece of a song of your choosing.
      • If you would like to be considered for a role with a vocal solo:  You will need to sing a 30-60 second piece of a song from Mamma Mia! The Musical, of your choosing.
Casting Information
· All those auditioning will get a fair, unbiased chance as per our non-discrimination policy.
· The cast list will be posted by 6:00 pm Monday, April 8th.
· Auditions and casting are a very exciting and stressful time for those auditioning, as well as the production staff.  Please remember that casting is not a personal refection on you as as an individual.  There are a variety of factors that go into casting, including—vocal range, dancing & acting ability; chemistry with other actors and scene partners; schedule availability; attitude; and to some degree—reliability and behavior issues from past productions.  Inevitably, there will be some hurt feelings, however I expect everyone to keep negative comments to themselves.  We will build each other up as a cast instead of tearing one another down.  A positive, team-centered attitude is essential!
