Rock of Ages High School Edition
It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra and Heavy Metal flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip's last legendary venues, a place where legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and groupies line up for their chance at an autograph. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock 'n' roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it's too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more can hold the answer.
Rock of Ages: High School Edition takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! This Tony Award -nominated Broadway musical features the hits of bands including Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister and others.
We are getting a late start with short notice due to the uncertainty of Covid restricitons, but DON'T PANIC! Everyone is in the same boat and we will make auditions as stress-free as possible. If you can't attend auditions due to a sporting event or are already scheduled to work, please let me know and we will work something out.
· All those auditioning will get a fair, unbiased chance as per our non-discrimination policy.
· The cast list will be posted by noon on Saturday, April 10th.
· Auditions and casting are a very exciting and stressful time for those auditioning, as well as the production staff. Please remember that casting is not a personal refection on you as as an individual. There are a variety of factors that go into casting, including—vocal range, dancing & acting ability; chemistry with other actors and scene partners; schedule availability; attitude; and to some degree—reliability and behavior issues from past productions. Inevitably, there will be some hurt feelings, however I expect everyone to keep negative comments to themselves. We will build each other up as a cast instead of tearing one another down. A positive, team-centered attitude is essential!
