Purpose​​
  • This project is a fundraiser for Gibson County Youth Theatre.
  • It is a fun way for adults who have a love of theatre, but not a lot of extra time on their hands, to be a part of a nearly full-scale musical production in a short amount of time.
  • This is intended to be a light and fun experience - NOT STRESSFUL! The audience realizes we put this together in a week and are very forgiving.  We still have people talking about how much they enjoyed our last adult cast shows "Hairspray" and "Legally Blonde".
Process
  • Gibson County Youth Theatre's High School Summer Musical is "Hairspray".  ​The high school cast will perform June 20th-23rd.  The adult cast will rehearse June 23rd-27th (Sun-Thurs 5:00-8:00 pm) and perform Friday, June 28th at 7:30 pm & Sunday, June 30th at 2:00 pm.  We have added a jumpstart rehearsal on Saturday, June 22nd 11:00am - ???? for those who want a little extra time.  The Gibson County Fair Queen Pageant is Saturday, June 29th in the auditorium, so we are doing a Friday and Sunday performance.  We will be sharing the auditorium with them for rehearsals and will do our best to stay out of their way.
  • The adult cast will recycle the youth cast's blocking, choreography (watered down as much as needed), sets, costumes, digital orchestration, lighting & sound.
  • The adult cast will not audition unless we end up with several adults volunteering to play the same character. 
  • The adult cast is welcome at any of the youth rehearsals to see what is going on and learn along with us if they want (not required).
  • The adult cast will be admitted FREE to as many youth cast performances they want so they can study the blocking and dance routines.
  • The 2002 Broadway Original Cast Recording is a great resource.  Listen to it on repeat!
  • The adult cast will be required to be off-book and know their songs by our first rehearsal on June 23rd.  Actors have access to our script and show tracks NOW!  ​

MTI Player is where our actual productions tracks come from.  There is an app that you can use to run a rehearsal version of our show. It will be slightly different from the performance tracks, but very close.

​RehearScore is an App that you can use to rehearse specific vocal parts.  For example, if you are Harold, then you can select only the Harold part to hear your particular part.  Sections can also practice this way.  For example, if you are an alto in the ensemble, then you can select only to hear the alto parts to rehearse.
